Why This Site Exists
Texas requires all drivers to carry minimum liability coverage: $30,000 per injured person, $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. Those numbers are confusing. The penalties for driving uninsured are steep. And finding an agent who actually explains your options instead of pushing the first quote is harder than it should be.
We built this site to do two things: explain what Texas law actually requires, and connect you with licensed agents in your area who compete for your business. When you submit your information, multiple agents receive your request. They know they're competing, so they send their best offers. You compare, you choose, or you walk away. The service is free because agents pay us a referral fee when you decide to work with them — not before.
We don't sell insurance. We don't represent any single carrier. We explain the requirements, you submit your details if you want quotes, and agents do the rest.
How the Process Works
You read the content on this site to understand what Texas requires, what different coverage types actually pay for, and what your situation calls for. If you want quotes, you fill out a short form: ZIP code, vehicle details, driver history, coverage preferences. That form goes to licensed insurance agents in your area — typically 3 to 5 agents, depending on your location and profile.
Those agents review your information and send quotes directly to you by phone or email, usually within 24 hours. They know other agents received the same request, so they're motivated to send competitive offers. You compare the quotes, ask follow-up questions if you want, and decide whether to buy. If you choose an agent and purchase a policy, that agent pays us a referral fee. If you don't buy, you don't owe anything, and neither does the agent.
Your information is shared only with the agents who quote you. We don't sell your data to third parties, and we don't send marketing emails unless you opt in. You control the process from the moment you submit the form.
How We Maintain Accuracy
Every page on this site is researched against primary sources: Texas Department of Insurance regulations, Texas Transportation Code statutes, and carrier filings published by the Texas Department of Insurance. When we cite a requirement — liability minimums, SR-22 filing periods, reinstatement fees — we verify it against the current statute or administrative rule. When we cite rate ranges, we base estimates on aggregated industry data and include a disclaimer that individual rates vary.
We update content when Texas law changes, when carrier programs shift, or when new data becomes available. If a page references a statute, fee, or filing rule, that reference reflects the most recent published version we can verify. We don't invent coverage details, fabricate discount percentages, or cite studies that don't exist.
Our editorial team is Ironwood Editorial, an organization that specializes in insurance content. We don't claim to be licensed agents, and we don't provide legal advice. We explain the rules, cite the sources, and connect you with professionals who can quote and bind coverage.
